Ramadan Kareem: Donate to Help Others

The Muslim festival, Ramadan, is the time spent fasting and performing acts of charity. It is a time of spiritual cleansing and an effort to draw closer to Allah.

Due to the countless blessings offered in the Holy month of Ramadan, Muslims tend to donate generously in this month and pay Zakat and sadaqat wholeheartedly.

While Zakat is a mandatory donation for most Muslims, sadaqah, however, is optional. Sadaqah is more like an act of kindness to someone. Giving charity in the form of sadaqah can be simply smiling at someone or helping them out in person.

Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, charity, and worship. Many Muslims break their fasts at sunset every day. Some people, however, live in a crisis or severe hardship and face a never-ending fast. Let us remember those who are living in crisis and suffering from poverty.

With Ramadan just around the corner, there is an ever-increasing need to give charity and donation.

Ramadan Kareem is the month wherein all good acts are even better, including charity and donation.

The Prophet (sawa) said, ‘The best act of charity is carried out in the month of Ramadan.’

This Ramzan Donate to Help Others

Ramadan is a special time of year. Ibn Abbas described that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was the most generous of people, and even more so during the month of Ramadan.

Here are ways to make the most of your Ramadan.

Share Food

As simple as sharing your Iftar, you can help provide life-saving food for some of the hungry children and families through Ramzan.

Give Zakat

Your Zakat will help the poor, including widows, orphans, the disabled, the needy, and the destitute. Giving Zakat also purifies your wealth as Allah says in the Quran that giving Zakat keeps one away from sins and saves the giver from the moral ill arising from the love and greed of wealth.

Reach Out to Those Around You
There are many people around us who are lonely, sad and hungry. Sometimes it’s hard to even see our neighbors. If there is someone that you haven’t seen in a while, the best thing to do is make sure they know you care. Calling them up, dropping by, or inviting them to Iftar. Any small gesture will make a huge difference in their life.

Give Sadaqat to Help Those in Need
For many, life is a battle against hunger, disease, and despair. The Qur’an states “those who spend their wealth by night and day, in secret and in public shall have their reward with their Lord.” Those who donate in private and publicly will be rewarded without fear or regret.

Pray for Others
One of the best things you can do to help others during Ramadan is to spend time praying for them. Pray for your loved ones, those who are ill, those who live in fear, and those who go hungry.

Pay Fitra

In addition to Zakat, fitra, a special form of Islamic charity, is also practiced in Ramadan before the Eid prayer to ensure that the poor could enter Eid in a happy mood.

Charity and kindness are important at any time of the year. But in the holy month of Ramadan, they become an essential component. The Prophet Muhammad (sawa) said on the last Friday of Sha’ban:

“Do good to the poor and needy, honor your old, be kind to youngsters and maintain relations with family.”

Ramadan is a month of giving. It’s a time to help others, share the joy with your loved ones and those who need help. If you can donate to those who are less fortunate than yourself, please do so and make the world a better place. Make the most of your Ramadan!

Ramadan Kareem!
