From Awareness to Action – Inside the UMEED Program
UMEED is not just an awareness campaign — it’s an action-oriented movement to embed mental health care at every level of the hospital and community.
Key Program Components:
- Monthly Well-being Sessions
Open to hospital staff, patients, and caregivers in collaboration with Taskeen Foundation — promoting open conversations and emotional wellness. - Trauma-Informed Training for Consultants
Led by Ms. Sara Khatri, a registered psychotherapist, to equip healthcare professionals in recognizing and responding to mental health challenges with empathy and skill. - Lay Counseling Certification
Empowering frontline hospital staff to become certified lay counselors, providing peer-level mental health support.
The Long-Term Vision of UMEED
✔ Mental health representatives in every hospital department
✔ External psychologist partnerships for referrals
✔ Integration with Taskeen’s Peace Project for sustainable psychosocial support
✔ Development of an in-house psychology department with trained therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists
Why UMEED Matters
In many communities, mental health is often hidden in silence. UMEED breaks these barriers by:
- Raising awareness
- Equipping healthcare professionals
- Building accessible support networks
By integrating mental health into everyday care, we move toward a society where seeking help is seen as strength—not stigma.
